Education, Support and Therapy Groups

Peers® Group for Young Adults

Autism Ontario in partnership with The Redpath Centre is proud to offer a Peers Group for Young Adults beginning in January 2017! Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®) for Young Adults (Ages 18-30+) is a 16-week evidence-based social skills intervention for motivated young adults, who are interested in learning skills to make and keep friends and develop romantic relationships. During each group session, young adults are taught important social skills and are given the opportunity to practice these skills. Homework is assigned each week to practice skills learned and is supported and monitored by a ‘coach’ (usually a parent) who accompanies the young adult each week and who participates in a separate ‘coach’ session while the young adult is in their own separate session. Learn to change your beliefs and behaviors regarding socialization and relationships. Achieve success in socializing through this group intervention. Fees paid may be eligible for health insurance coverage through workplace benefit insurance plans under, “Services of a Psychologist”. Check with your plan administrators. Out-of-pocket expenses can be added to the medical expenses deduction on the federal government tax form.
